Dental inlays and onlays are porcelain fillings that are a more conservative alternative to crowns, and a stronger, longer lasting alternative to composite bonding or fillings. When a tooth is cracked, has excessive decay, or an old amalgam filling is leaking or failing, an inlay or onlay can be an ideal way to restore the tooth. At Westlake Smile Studio, we strive to be as conservative as possible. In the past, the only options for compromised teeth were “crown or filling” from your family dentist. Now, with advancements in adhesion protocols and porcelain systems we can offer more conservative options such as inlays and onlays. Inlays and onlays are stronger than composite fillings, last longer, and require removal of less tooth structure than a crown.
